Suspenseful Book

This is a suspenseful book and I created this by having the color scheme a bold complementary colors of green and red. The face of the person in the hooded shirt is hidden so that you can not tell who it is. The background is black to add the suspense of the book and make the darkness seems unforgiving and like death will stock the night, looking for victims to slay. You are left with the questions, “who is the next victim? Will the hero serve?”

The first thing I did was to fix the photo of the person with the hooded shirt. The background of this image had lights of a far way city. I felt like this would take the attention away from the person and title and did not give off the feeling that I wanted. So I put a layer mask on the image and then I painted black on the layer mask to ‘hide’ the spots that I didn’t want to show. In this case I painted on the lights so that all the attention can be drawn to the hooded shirt. Then I put a hue/saturation layer over the hooded shirt layer and clipped it to the layer so that this hue/saturation layer would only affect the layer below it (which would be the hooded shirt layer). I put the hue to a more dull green rather the bright green that the hood was before. I didn’t want to overwhelm the senses of the viewer so that is why it is a more dull green.

The text I did in a bright red to complement the dull green hooded shirt. I chose the title to be in a type front of a rushed handwriting, like somebody wrote a hurried message to the viewer. The title looks like the person who wrote it didn’t have a lot of time to spare. Also a subtitle can be made at the bottom of the page if wanted.
