A Song Of Color

This book cover was fun to do and work with. I added the first image, the one with the Chinese painting, and put it at the top of the page. I put a layer mask on it. Then I faded the bottom of the mask to hide the sharp edges of the image as well as blending it into the image I had planed to have on the bottom. I wanted to create a picturesque book cover that talks about the heart of the country, and its people. What makes them themselves and raises their hearts. So the picture on the top shows how the people of the country relate to the love of their country and the bottom picture show the real  country and kind of explains why the people love it so much. The rocky cliffs, and beautiful skies gives a desire to see it all in person. I made sure to fade the bottom image, just like I faded the top, so that both images seamlessly go into each other. I also made the green growth of the cliffs more green by adding a color balance and raising the green slider up a notch. On both images I put a hue/saturation layer and raised the saturation on them so that it would make the images even more vibrant.

Now that the images were all set I moved onto the text. I wanted to create a Chinese feeling (which is why I chose the images that I did for the cover) and, while I feel like it is expressed through the images, I wanted to tie that feeling also into the text. I put a boarder framing around the text. For the text I used a front that looks like it belongs to a different country. The lines of the text is smooth and crisp creating a text that looks both artist and elegant. I put a white stroke around the title to have it stand more out from the background. Once this was done I put a watercolor texture on the text layer and the boarder. This gives the text a more artist look.
