Where the heart leads
I wanted this book cover the be either a historical romance or fantasy romance. I wanted to create a whimsical feeling and I feel like I seceded through the image, text, color balance, gradient maps, and brightness and contrasts.
The first thing that I did was touch up on the image by removing the nosier parts of the image. There was a cluster of leaves where the title is now and I knew that it would distract the viewer from the woman as well as the title. So I used the clone stamp to copy the bark behind the leaves to hide the leaves. I made the leaves on her head bolder and more green. I also made a texture on the image to make it look softly rugged to match with the theme of the woody, outdoors image.
Once this was done I had done some minor color enhances (like color balance, brightness and contrast.). Then I moved onto making the picture into even more of a fanatical and whimsical book cover by adding a gradient map to it. The gradient map had orange, red, and purple and I put it onto the blending mode of screen.
The title itself is very whimsical, with flowing letters and elegant lines. The decorations that frame the words helps make the title stand. More so the white letters also help the title to stand out from the dark background.
