Ruth (the humble daughter)
The first layer I did on this was a solid color of gray and then put a texture layer of brown payer on the blend mode of overlay. This would start to give the book cover a feeling of ancient days long past. Brown is also a color that gives the though of working and reliability.
The next thing I worked on was the image I had chosen to be the picture of Ruth. The picture I used was a middle eastern woman with a reddish/purplish scarf. I chose her because of the gentle but strong look in her eyes. I wanted depth in her face so I used the same texture that I did the background on the face and put this one on the blending mode overlay. I made sure that the texture on the face only affected the face and not anything else. This gave her face depth and spoke of her character.
The last thing that I did was the title. I wanted a ruggedness to the title and subtitle. Then once I found the right font I moved onto the color of the text. I thought that it would be good to show that yes Ruth was a hard worker but the thing that was the most remarkable was her soft and kind heart. What better way to express this by saying she had a heart of gold and making a texture (this one of a golden color).
